Shri P.A.C Ramasamy Raja set up the first cement plant in 1961 at virudhunagar District,Tamilnadu, Which is now named after him and called Ramasamy Raja Nager

The State Government, for the first time in the history of india, invested in his company, an indication of the total trust and implicit faith the government had in him. His sharp focus on technology and qualitity has inspired a generation of entrepreneurs and formed the basis for the collective vision of the Group

The company was just a year old when Shri P.R. Ramasubrahmaneya Rajha took over, under his dynamic leadership the company grew multi-fold from a modest 66,000 tonnes to 16.5 million MT per annum. His creative skills and quest for quality made The Ramco Cements limited one of the most admired cement companies in India
He achieved this through an intrinsic faith in adapting new technologies and management methods in every sector that the group invested in. He complemented this with innovative and efficient management practices, with the result that the Ramco group companies have consistently outperformed the industry in every sector. His visionary zeal was behind the setting up of modern manufacturing plants, spinning mills and educational and charitable institutions all over india.
